No More Blogs
I am sorry to say that I am ending my blog posting, I have not enjoyed blogging. I am not a savvy computer person. I am unable to present the blog myself, to much knowledge is needed to load pictures, make files, copy files etc. etc. So in the end I am giving up, but we will keep traveling and just taking pictures for Dave to store into personal files. Easter Time at Martin Dies Jr. St Pk, Jasper, Texas
This has been a very fun filled week at this park. Lots of hiking and biking and even Geo-caching. On Sunday (Easter) March 31st, we will definitely be driving north around 180 miles to our last Texas State Park (Daingerfield State Park). We have really enjoyed our travels in Texas.
We are camped in Site #80. Which is hands down the prettiest site in the park. |
The reservoir is covered with floating vegetation along the edge. It is so thick "Misty" thought she could jump out on it and got a surprise. |
Cabin and shelter sites. |
Look at this Japanese Wisteria!!. It grows everywhere in this section of Texas. |
Here again is that floating vegetation. |
Misty and I found this Geo cache (with the help of a GPS) |
David also found a geo cache using a GPS for help! |
"Slough" Trail - It was a 2 mile trail that we hiked and also biked. |
Cute Easter display in the camping area. |
The park had an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday |
That's all for this week. Let the travels continue North!

Spending a Week at Village Creek State Park, Texas
We arrived at Village Creek on Sunday, March 17th and stayed until Sunday, March 24, 2013
This was a small state park but very beautiful lots of hiking trails and biking.
Walking the "Village Creek" Trail. This state park is known for its canoeing and kayaking fun! |
We selected Camping Site #21 |
Hiking the "Water Oak" trail. |
It was a hot day hiking the "Water Oak" trail and Misty just had to cool off. |
Red berry plant that was just beautiful on the "Tueplo" trail. Forest Ranger said that it is an invasive plant. |
It is certainly Spring Time in Texas! |
On Sunday, March 24th we left Village Creek State Park for our next travel north of 50 miles to Martin Dies Jr. State Park (Mr. Dies was a Democrat who served in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Our week at Shiloh RV Park in Richmond, Tx.
Park Office |
We picked Lot #3 for our 8 night stay. |
Row of trailers in the park. |
Picture of our trailer from the back of the lot. |
Notice this trailer in the back. Owner tried to tar his roof. He even left the tar bucket on top. I kid you not, His pickup advertises that he is the owner of a roofing repair company, What a Hoot!! |
Misty meets the campground horse. |
The following pictures were taken today Friday, March 15th at a State Campground Brazos Bend State Park about 15 miles away.
This is the flower of a Red Buckeye. They are mostly shrubs here in Texas. |
David and Misty at our picnic spot, |
We hike the White Oak Trail. Distance was 2.8 miles after getting lost a couple of times. |
This State Park, Brazos Bend, was just beautiful with spring flowers blooming everywhere, We were unable to stay here because of the closeness to Houston and Spring Break. Better luck next time. We will head east on Sunday and travel to Village Creek State Park in Lumberton, Texas about a distance of 125 miles. Let the travels continue.....

Pioneer Village RV Park, Port Aransas, Tx.
Due to Spring Break, we are leaving the Gulf Coast and moving
inland. Here are a few photos of our stay here at Port Aransas, Texas.
If you leave Port Aransas and drive North, you have to use this "free" ferry to get to the mainland for shopping. It usually takes 15 to 30 minutes to get across.
The wind kept us off the beach but we did manage to take a few pictures.
This guy actually did catch a fish here. |

Last Day at Falcon State Park
Saturday March 2, 2013 is our last day at Falcon. We have been enjoying
the park. In the morning we hike the circular trail and in the
afternoon we bike it. On Friday, we did the usual weekly chores of
laundry and grocery shopping. Here are a few pictures of our time spent
here.
On Sunday, we will leave and drive 214 miles east to Port Aransas, Texas and stay for 7 days at our first private campground, It is supposed to be very close to the Gulf of Mexico. Until then let the travels continue.....
This cactus is called a "Horse Crippler" |
Misty on her favorite trail |
It was a very windy day during our hike. I had to hold the flower to get a picture |
We have been watching this Prickly Pear bud for a week. But we will not be able to see it bloom |
On this daily hike the wind blew up to 40 mph and there was not one fisherman on the lake. |
This is Nellie's Beauty Salon in Falcon Heights where I had my hair cut. She was extremely friendly. |

Just Marking Time at Falcon State Park
We have decided to extend our stay at Falcon State Park until Sunday, March 3rd. Here are some pictures of what we have been doing.
This garden is located inside Falcon Park |
One of the butterfly flowers in the garden. |
The park also had a bird feeding area. Dave is entering the blind. |
This is the Recreation Hall inside the park. They have a laundry area inside that we have been using. |
This is a sign posted at the boat dock. |
This is a Border Patrol car parked in the boating area watching over the lake |
This is a picture of the Rio Grande River at another bird feeding area about eight miles from the park. We were not impressed with the feeding area. |
This picture is from the same location but you are now looking at Mexico. Just wanted to show how narrow the river is here. |
As for the rest of our time here we need to drive to Roma for groceries and we will visit Roma Bluffs a world birding center next. The travels will continue...
